How rankings work

Every app gets a MetaScore — a 0–10 composite computed from public ratings (App Store, Google Play, Reddit, YouTube reviewers, expert sites) by a fixed formula. No app can pay for a higher MetaScore or a better rank. The formula does not take money as an input, and sponsored placements do not exist in our rankings. Read the full methodology.

Affiliate relationships

Outbound links marked as sponsored may earn us a commission at no cost to you. Current and planned programs include Piano Tree Partners (20% recurring commission — applied), Amazon Associates for keyboard hardware, and direct partner deals we negotiate as the site grows. Until a program is approved, outbound links go directly to the maker's site.

Featured partner slot

Piano Player (by WebPianoTeacher.com) holds a labeled Featured Partner slot on our homepage and ranking page, plus a dedicated review. The placement is always labeled as such. Commercial terms for the slot are still being finalized; until they are, its link points directly to the maker's site with no tracking. The featured slot does not affect the MetaScore or any ranking.

What "provisional" means

Newer apps with thin public review footprints carry a provisional badge on their MetaScore. It means the evidence base is small — treat the number as a starting point and read the review.
